Q. What is a virtual server?
A:
We specialize in virtual servers which means that you can
find a home for your website on our web servers and establish a presence
on the Internet. We can help register your own domain name which will
become your unique address on the World Wide Web. Having your own domain
name does not reveal that you are renting web space, and, since email can
be addressed to your domain (eg. www.any-name.com) you will not have to
announce a new email address if you change internet providers. And, with a
domain name you can transfer your web presence at any time and never lose
your identity since you can take your www.any-name.com with you.

I be able to access my domain name with or without the www?
A:
Yes, you will be able to access the domain name with or
without the www in front. For example, you could access the domain name
"any-name.com" by going to "www.any-name.com" as well as "any-name.com".

you offer dial-up Internet access?
A:
At the current time, no. You will need local Internet access in order to
maintain your website and retrieve email addressed to your site.

We offer FrontPage extensions on all UNIX accounts for free
and offer it as an add-on on all NT accounts.

Market research shows that 97% of all websites use less

Yes, you can upgrade at any time. There's a $10 upgrade

Q. Does
DigitalLinks handle domain registration?
A:
We sure do! DigitalLinks will register your new domain name with the InterNIC for
you. InterNIC will bill you directly for the registration.
While some hosting companies will charge you up to $150 to fill out the
registration paperwork, we do this at no charge.
If you have an existing domain we will fill out and send you a modify
domain name template to forward to hostmaster@internic.net. When InterNIC
announces the completion of the transfer there is a 72 hour propagation
period where visitors could go to either site. At the end of the 72 hours
you should contact the previous host to have them delete the old domain
from their records and update their DNS record. If you use this same
provider for your Internet access you will not be able to access your
domain site until they update their DNS. During the propagation period
persons accessing your site will be going to both sites until all are
accessing the new site.

Q. Who
owns the domain name when I register with DigitalLinks?
A:
You do! You are the rightful owner of your domain. We do the
registration work but it's your domain. You will be registered with
InterNIC as the Administrative and Billing Contact and we will be listed
simply as the Technical Contact for the domain.

Q. Can
I transfer an existing domain to DigitalLinks?
A:
Yes. When you place an order via our
online
order form, be sure to specify that you are requesting a transfer and
NOT a new domain. You should keep the service at the present site while
waiting for InterNIC to complete the transfer. We will provide you with a
temporary IP address so you can mirror the site on our server. All email
and web pages will still be accessed from the current site.

Q. How
long does it take before my domain name is active?
A:
Once the InterNIC announces that your domain name has been registered (or
transferred, if applicable), it usually takes anywhere from 72-hours to a
week before it is active. All Internet providers must update their records
(DNS tables) to reflect new site locations. This is called propagation.

Q. What
is the InterNIC fee for domain registration?
A:
As of June 19, 1999, the InterNIC (Network Solutions) fees
were $70 to register a new domain name. This fee covers the first two
years of domain registration. Thereafter, the rate is $35 per year to keep
the domain registered. The InterNIC (via "Network Solutions") will send
you an invoice via email between 1 to 6 weeks after registration. Be sure
to pay this bill promptly or you will lose your domain. If how ever you

$12/year.

Q. How
do I transfer files to my website?
A:
Files must be transferred to the web server via File
Transport Protocol (FTP). If you have a PPP Internet account and need FTP
software, you can download a program for either the Mac or PC from our
site. Internet providers such as AOL, Compuserve, and Prodigy may have a
built-in FTP interface.

Q. Will
I have unlimited access to update my pages?
A:
Absolutely! You have unlimited access via FTP 24 hours a
day, 7 days a week. As such, you can create and maintain your web pages on
your own computer and upload files to your website at your leisure.

multiple domains point to the same php files?
A:
In general, if you have more than one domain name with DigitalLinks you can point
it to your account for just $10/year.

I use my account for commercial purposes?
A:
Yes, you can use your account for commercial purposes. The
World Wide Web has become a most efficient and cost-effective means of
making information, products and services available to the users of the
internet community.

I resell space within my own account?
A:
No, you cannot resell space within your account. Only
reseller accounts can resell their accounts!

Yes, we welcome customers from around the world. We're as

name extensions.

long does it take to set up a new account?
A:
Orders for new domain name accounts are registered with the
InterNIC within 24 hours (to ensure that you do not lose the domain to
someone else). Once we process your payment, your account is set up
(usually within 8-12 hours of your order) and your registered domain is
configured into our server. An activation notice will then be sent to you
via email including a login (user id), password, and FTP hostname. You can
then begin uploading files to your new website immediately. Domain account
users will usually be given a temporary URL to access their site via the
web prior to the completion of either domain registration or transfer.
